I had an ICP Korean student meeting.
Their comments are below:
Good at IIT
===========
1. IIT location is very good to go anywhere in Chicago downtown area.
2. This program provides good curriculum to choose many courses.
However, students want to see more business courses.
3. IT courses are better than similar courses in Korea.
4. Fast feedback of assignment and individual consultation which wrong answer was made.
Thus students can figure it out easily how to improve their study.
5. IT courses provide actual works in the class.
Professor shows programming codes in class, how to debug, and why errors were made.
Students agree this detail teaching in a class never happened in Korea.
Weekly assignments and corrections make student to learn easier.
6. Nice Gym and sport complex in campus.
Students can continue daily exercise to keep good health.
The racquetball club with prof. Choi is one of example for regular sport activities.
7. Some business courses are good and professors provide good review of assignment.
(But not all business course are good)
8. Students understand topics in the class with various teaching techniques.
Students agree their knowledge level up more.
9. English classes are good (especially reading and writing),
10. English professor corrects each student's wrong pronounce.
11. Reading and writing course also discuss topics related to major study.
Learn not only English but also can expand their knowledge.
12. IIT supports on and off campus events so that students can get tickets cheaper and easier.
13. Student surveys for events which they want to participate in.
14. IIT offers good relax event before midterm period at the MTCC.
15. IIT had a formal dress party at Navy Pier.
ICP students also can experience that dress party.
Need improvement
================
1. There are only introduction level and advanced level business courses.
ICP Korean students hardly can take the advanced level courses because of lack of the experience. If there are more middle level courses, students may take them.
(Mr. Carl_ IIT program manager) : We need to have enough students in the business courses to run them and are willing to offer mid-level courses if we can fill the class.
2. A business course (Communication for work place) uses old information, too many video in class, frequent early dismiss of class.
(Mr. Carl_ IIT program manager) : I will provide this feedback to the professor for future course modifications.
